SUBMIT THE CREVICE AS A POSSIBLE PLACE FOR A GRAMMAR OF THE WHISPER

Beginning with a map or cartography to journey, by way of a deck of images, through an open correspondence (14 cards) of a dance formulating its own tissue.

Exploring the acoustics of movement, the status of presence, the intonations of a gesture,  the rhythms of a contact; displacements of an absence that in the hidden distance is played…’blinks’, and is decrypted through constellations of material that build situations-architectures nomadic-corpographies of a network, towards the encounter of that geography that can break through inside, branching out into multiple planes.

When happens, the space as protagonist, the voice of the body, bodies of a voice, we are linked by what is left secreted by the skin that touches a space capable of hosting an instant: this unexpected blank where the gaze convenes, ignites its vision.

Marianela León: Interested in dance as a space-time connection between bodies: performers and spectators. Each body is a bottomless pit that houses the entire life of a person. The bottomless are connected like sewers, with water running everywhere, entering and mingling in the wells. There are many ways to dive, and there are buckets to lift the water and drink it. The dancer gives to drink.

Mónica Valenciano: Dancer and choreographer. Studied classical and contemporary dance as well as theater at the Theatre Institute (Barcelona) and RESAD (Madrid). Completed her training with other disciplines: Yoga Iyengar, R. Laban, improvisation, boxing, archery, and T’ai chi ch’uan in Wudang (China).

Alongside her creative work, she develops through workshops and courses a personal line of pedagogy.

She has performed and created among others the following works: Aúpa, Puntos suspensivos, Miniaturas, Peso gallo. Having founded the company El Bailadero, performs and produces Adivina en Plata, and the series Disparates. Her work has been presented in theatre venues and festivals in Spain, Europe, USA and Canada. In 1999 the Festival Desviaciones displays a retrospective of her work, and in 2004 the Festival Escena Contemporánea in Madrid dedicates the cycle “Perfil” to her.

Together with La Ribot, Blanca Calvo, Elena Córdoba, Olga Mesa and Ana Buitrago, created the collective UVI (La inesperada). She takes part in lectures about body writing, poetry readings, and does several exhibitions with her drawings as well. In collaboration with Chus Domínguez is searching about the body language and the image in different artistic residences: ‘Un pescador con subtítulos’, ‘Impregnaciones en la Srta. Nieve y Guitarra’.

In 2012 she is awarded the National Prize for Dance from Spain.
