The project nAu now by Aurora Balasch (dancer and dance maker, Igualada) and Antoine Berthiaume (guitarist and composer, Montreal) was developed at CeRCCA, Centre for research and creation Casamarlès, space for creation and international artistic residences in Llorenç del Penedès, in collaboration with L’Escorxador, Vilafranca del Penedès.

Their work stems from several meetings in which the discussions and exchange of ideas opened to experimentation and improvisation, for which both artists share interest. Understanding improvisation in dance as the immediate translation of a sensation or a physical / energetic impulse in motion, without passing through the logic of the mind. Their aim is to open the attention so to interact spontaneously and intuitively with the others, the sound, surroundings and with anything else happening. Regarding the music, the utilisation of romantic sound landscapes made by string instruments, electronics and sound objects open the door to the abstract and to different performance possibilities.

Antoine Berthiaume: Guitarist and composer from Montreal active in jazz and improvisation  since more than 12 years. His most recent works are supplemented from collaborations with film directors and contemporary dance companies. The photographer Ralph Gibson has included his work in the list of the 81 most important experimental guitarists making it possible for Antoine to be part of a catalogue and an exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas.
