CRA’P Workshops 2018

22 and 23 September 1st Module

6 and 7 October 2nd Module

In these two intensive weekend modules, I propose to reflect and work around two issues that I consider important when working with children and adolescents through dance: our notions about aesthetics, and the relationship between music and sound with the body and dance.

Although these two modules are designed for people working with children or adolescents, through body and dance. In reality they can be used by anyone interested in learning processes related to artistic activities, as a framework for a practical reflection.

1st Module: Aesthetic Reflection

How does our sensibility change in perceiving and experiencing artistic forms? Why and how are conceptions of the beautiful modified? Which are the parameters that are sensitive to certain forms, and insensitive to others? Which ideological and political facts are privileging certain forms of beauty to the detriment of other forms? And, in the dance field, what does become aesthetic? How can a gesture, a form of movement, transform the sensitivity, and therefore our view of the world, of oneself and of others?

2nd Module: Music and Dance, Sound and Body

Since immemorial times, dance and music have been sister arts. However, music, at least in Western culture, is soon emancipated from dance, but it will not be until the late twentieth century when dance will begin, although only in the artistic avant-garde, to affirm itself as an independent art form. In this module, we will discuss this relationship, and will give tools to work in the classroom with children and adolescents.
