CRA’P collaborations 2014

Thursday 26th of June at 19:30
Cultural Center La Marineta – Mollet del Vallès

CRA’P presents “CINEMAS OF AFGHANISTAN: stories of gender and society”. Lecture by Montse Romaní in  ‘Visual Marineta’ Program.

West reproduces often negative social imageries on Afghanistan, and with regard to women especially victimizes the different realities and living situations. In opposition to this constructed perception, we will reflect on the role of cinema as a means to vindicate the public and political role of women in Afghanistan, bearing in mind that the Afghan woman stands behind the camera for the first time in 2001.

Montse Romaní, researcher and cultural producer based in Barcelona (Spain). Her professional work is at the crossroads between artistic research and teaching, audiovisual programming and analysis of cultural policies. She is currently studying a PhD in Arts and Education at the University of Barcelona. She is an active member of two research groups: Subtramas – a platform for research and co-learning related to the collaborative practices of audiovisual production and SUB – the U society of Barcelona, with which has directed the documentary: ‘MACBA, The right, the left and the rich’. http://subtramas.museoreinasofia.es
