CRA’P resident July and August 2024

POV

POV is a solo that continues a working line that I’ve been developing in previous years, which links body, image, power and digitality. The project is in the research/creation process, which is currently looking for ways to be developed and a date for the premiere. The research started as a proposal from the “Bòlit Contemporary Art Centre” in Girona, directed by Ingrid Guardiola, where in 2023 I was invited to present a capsule within the conceptual axis: “domination, monstrosity, the possibility of rewriting history or becoming another”.

POV is the acronym for "Point Of View". The acronyms have been used through literature and contemporary visual language such as cinema, photography or video games, and currently by users of social networks. In POV, the gaze on the body in relation to its image and the stories that can be told, become a game of possession and dispossession, of empowerment and disempowerment, of submission and resistance, of alienation and strangeness, or on the contrary of normality and familiarity. This tension is built up through an interplay between word, image and affect.
