CRA’P presents the pedagogical research of the visual artist Alessandro Quaranta

“To be less” is a round table on the function of the audio-visual as a pedagogical tool.

In the past years, for the production of his videos, Alessandro Quaranta has chosen to involve children in activities of exploration and listening. Their natural predisposition to identify themselves with virtual games has always fascinated him, and has characterized his working method.
The richness of these experiences has laid the foundations for the launch of an experimental research project focused on the use of the audio-visual language with children and adolescents with attention disorders.

“To be less” is the attempt to cancel oneself, to decentralize oneself, and to abandon all educational pretensions, to allow the manifestation of other ways of observing reality.

Through this presentation, he intend to explain and share the process of a year of research, including the practical demonstration of some laboratory moments which display the reason to have a dialogue with the audience, about the effectiveness of video recording devices as a pedagogical tool.

In collaboration with CRA’P – Artistic creation and research practices

“To be less” is a project by Alessandro Quaranta carried out thanks to the support of the Italian Council (IX edition, 2020), the international promotion program of Italian art of the General Directorate of Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry for Heritage and Cultural Activities and Tourism.
