TO LISTEN AND MOVE LOOKING AT LIFELESS OBJECTS

CRA’P Laboratories 2021

Friday 8 October from 17h to 20h

The laboratory is an integral part of a research project based on video and motion pictures language as a pedagogical instrument of attention and listening exercise.

The experimental method in use up to now is devoted to school aged subjects, with attention disease-hyperactivity of different level. What it may reveal us through the active practice I am proposing is how much we have in common with a stone, a fruit, or an old object, with a higher consciousness of our body when we look through the video camera lens.

Aimed at children between the ages of 9 and 12 who participate in the regular Scenic Body workshop.

Project supported by the Italian Council, Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity, Italian Ministry of Culture.

Alessandro Quaranta is a video artist. Graduated from the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti of Turin. In his creative practice he assumes a symbiotic immersive listening approach in regards to what catches his gaze; persons, objects or animals, that he records with the video. In his videos, he also records sensitive situations and contexts, starting from the natural and political, material and immaterial margins and boundaries. In particular, he pays attention to the relationship between spaces and the communities that inhabit them or cross them. His works have been presented in solo and group shows in several countries in Europe.
